Today marks the 16th year since the disappearance of Jonas Burgos. He was abducted in broad daylight in a mall in Quezon City. Despite all efforts to seek justice and locate his whereabouts, Jonas remains missing.
Jonas Burgos was an activist and a dedicated and passionate advocate for the rights of farmers and indigenous peoples. His disappearance is a stark reminder of the continuing human rights violations in our country.
We demand accountability from those responsible for his disappearance, and we stand with his family and loved ones in their quest for justice.
We must never forget Jonas Burgos and the many others who have suffered the same fate. We must and will continue the fight for a society where human rights are respected and protected for all.
