Farmer and son shot by soldiers of the 74th Infantry Battalion, Phil. Army in Mulanay, Quezon

At around 6:00 A.M. of October 13, 2008, farmer Alejo De Luna, together with his youngest son, Mark Angelo was tending their farm near their house in Sitio Pasalilo, Brgy. Mabini, Mulanay, Quezon.

His wife Angeline had gone out of the house after preparing coffee and saw nine (9) fully uniformed and armed soldiers surround her husband.  The soldiers belong to the Bravo Coy of the 74th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army.

Angeline said she saw one of the soldiers point a gun at her husband and said, "Wag kang tatakbo!" ("Dont run!").  Mark Angelo was extremely frightened and started to run, followed by his father, Alejo. After awhile, Angeline heard a series of gunshot from an armalite rifle.

The soldiers then entered the De Luna home, ransacked the place and searched their belongings. They have likewise threatened to bring Angeline to the  army camp.

It was already 11:00AM when the soldiers left. Afterwhich, Angeline was able to send word to a village official.  Baranggay Kagawad Tess Badillos responded to her call.  It was only then that Angeline learned that Alejo died of 2 gunshot wounds while their son had bullet burns on his shorts, and was almost hit by one of the bullets.

The family sought the help of KARAPATAN-Quezon after the incident.
