BS Aquino hears his own murmurs, not the people’s voice

“Where does BS Aquino pluck his ideas? First, he says he is thinking of a second term through Cha-Cha (Charter Change). Second, he says there are no more ‘berdugos’ in the AFP. Which and whose voices does Aquino hear?” remarked Cristina Palabay, secretary general of Karapatan.

Bosses in his head

“Aquino’s gruesome human rights record is one of the reasons why he should be out of Malacañang; He doesn’t deserve the presidency, not a day more, and definitely, not a second term longer,” she added.

“The AFP will never run out of berdugos like Palparan. As long as the Armed Forces protect the interest of the few moneyed elite such as the Cojuangcos and Aquinos and their foreign masters, the people’s rights will be violated. As long as the government uses the militarist approach in resolving the armed conflict, rights abuses will continue,” said Palabay.  “Aquino’s AFP breeds the likes of Gen. Jovito Palparan Jr. and they extoll Palparan’s record of gross human rights violations because he is their man,” she added.

“How can he say that there are no more berdugos in the AFP? Haven’t the president heard of the massacre of anti-mining activist Juvy Capion and her two children by soldiers of the 27th Infantry Battalion of the Phil. Army? Didn’t he know of the killings of Fr. Fausto Tentorio, fair trade activist Romeo Capalla and indigenous leader Datu Jimmy Liguyon by paramilitary groups? Where was he when elements of the AFP Southern Luzon Command arrested illegally and tortured security guard Rolly Panesa? Is he pretending not to know of the illegal arrest and detention of peace consultants Benito Tiamzon, Wilma Austria, Alan Jazmines that violated the JASIG? Where had he been?” Palabay asked.

Karapatan has documented 204 victims of extrajudicial killings and thousands of cases of human rights violations under

BS Aquino—all these because of Aquino’s counter-insurgency program Oplan Bayanihan, a copycat of Macapagal-Arroyo’s Oplan Bantay Laya, which Palparan implemented.

“With a second term for BS Aquino being floated and a legion of Palparans in the armed forces, a fascist dictatorship easily comes to mind,” Palabay ended.
