KARAPATAN: Bato’s arrest is long overdue

Karapatan said that the arrest by the Interpol of Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa is long overdue, after Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin hinted on Dela Rosa’s impending arrest in a recent media interview. According to Bersamin, the Philippine government would hand over Dela Rosa to the Interpol the same way it ceded Duterte should there be a warrant for his arrest from the International Criminal Court (ICC).

“As far as we are concerned,” said Karapatan secretary general Cristina Palabay, “Bato dela Rosa and the eight other co-conspirators whose names were allegedly in the warrant should have been arrested along with Rodrigo Duterte last March and hauled to prison.”

“Dela Rosa has reacted to this development with his usual braggadocio, but will likely make himself scarce the way he did when news first surfaced months ago about his possible arrest,” said Palabay. “The victims of Duterte’s drug war demand that Bato dela Rosa and his other co-conspirators be held accountable and not allowed to evade justice.”
