KARAPATAN condemns US bombardment in Iran

Karapatan condemned the US bombardment of three nuclear sites in Iran on June 22, 2025, in an ill-disguised move to trigger regime change in the staunchly anti-imperialist country.

“US claims of preventing Iran from manufacturing nuclear weapons fall flat in the face of an assessment by US Pres. Donald Trump’s own intelligence chief that Iran had not resumed its nuclear weapons program suspended in 2003,” said Karapatan deputy secretary general Atty. Maria Sol Taule. “The bombings were likewise a traitorous act, having been done in the middle of negotiations between the US and Iran on the latter’s nuclear program.”

“Israel and the US are both mouthing the same line to justify their aggressiona gainst Iran,” said Taule. “It is not much different from the US’ claim in 2003 thatI raq had weapons of mass destruction, a claim that had proven to be false but onlya fter the US and its allies had already attacked and wrought havoc on Iraq.”

“As the US did in Iraq, its actions against Iran are a clear prelude to instigatinge regime change because of Iran’s firm stand against US imperialist aggression in the region, especially its support of the Israeli-Zionist war of genocide against the Palestinian people,” added Taule.

“The US’ latest moves in Iran are likewise reckless and irresponsible as they ares ure to further escalate tensions and bring the world closer to war,” warned Taule.

“All freedom-loving peoples must condemn the US-Israeli aggression in Iran and Palestine that undermines Iranian sovereignty and violates the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.”

“The best way to deescalate tensions is to for the US to refrain from meddling in the region’s internal affairs and to dismantle all US military bases and withdraw all US troops from the area,” concluded Taule.
